Q: Is this the same case that is included with the Rev Platform? 
A: Yes.   

Q: If I buy the ladder do I need the case? 
A: The case will help keep the ladder dust-free and dry. If you store the ladder in your vehicle, you have less use for the case. If you want to store your ladder outside your vehicle without a case, for example, on top of the closed Rev Tent, this works too! The ladder will be fine in a bit of rain. But remember, you don’t want to keep it exposed to rain and sun, as it will decrease the ladder’s working life.
